  • Seeking an improved quality of life for yourself and your children?

The Pacific Young Parents’ Support Service under Waipuna Trust can provide a variety of courses to meet your individual needs, as well as one-on-one support for you and your family.

Home based Support

The Pacific Family Worker aims to identify and build on the strengths of the whole family, encouraging young mothers to value themselves and their significant role in their child’s development.

  • You are the expert on your family and child/children.

  • You are in control of what you would like assistance with.

  • You decide when you no longer want the service.


 
  • The Pacific Family Worker can assist you to identify your own strengths and resources helping you find your own solutions.

  • The Pacific Family Worker can assist you to link in with other appropriate services.

  • The Pacific Family Worker can provide advocacy when you need it and provide transportation if required.

  • The Pacific Family Worker aims to meet you where you’re at, walking beside you at your own pace.

Courses Offered In the Past Include

The group work consists of four modules offered throughout the year.

‘Growing up in Pacific Families’
(Looking back to move ahead)
Exploring cultural issues

‘Rebuilding the Fale’
(Keeping the Frame, Changing the picture)
Investigating child development

‘You – your child’s best educator’
(Developing positive influence.)
Examining positive parenting strategies

‘Beyond the home front’
(Looking towards the future)
Preparing for possible employment opportunities

We also offer craft sessions in the afternoons for an hour with all our modules.

Note: Our Pacific parents are also welcome to attend any of the other courses on offer by our mainstream Young Parents Service.
