The program works with a group of 8 young people of the same sex at any one time. The participants are assessed as to their suitability for this program.
The program integrates outdoor learning experiences with group and individual sessions. It employs experiential methods of learning and role development in order to develop young people's inner resilience and resources. Family participation is encouraged so they can support and monitor the young person's changes in behaviour.
Health education is provided in this program. In a safe and confidential setting, the young people are encouraged to think about their life stories and to consider the causes and effects of the choices that they make. Effective group bonding and facilitation lessens anxiety, encourages confidence and creates an environment conducive to personal growth and change.
